Imagine nearly 50 cats trapped in a scorching car, a shocking scene discovered at a Minnesota rest stop. The owner, living in the car with the cats, surrendered them to shelters, but amidst the chaos, one cat named Hercules made a daring escape. This gray and white feline vanished only to be found a month later, injured but alive, sparking a remarkable story of survival and recovery.

Nicole Perreault, a veterinarian at Tuff Start Rescue, took in the battered Hercules, who had a fractured jaw and severe injuries. With care and medical attention, Hercules gradually healed, his resilience shining through each step of recovery. His journey from near-death to a cozy home with Jill LeBrun, who decided to adopt him instead of just fostering, illustrates the transformative power of compassion.
Hercules spent about two months receiving care at Tuff Start Rescue.
Hercules's story didn't end there; his unique appearance led him to become a model for Target, turning his tale into one of unexpected fame. From a dire start to gracing store shelves and possibly more, his life changed completely.

Vets say a little pressure, or a "smoosh," can actually make your cat feel safe and relaxed. Kristyn Vitale, an animal behavior expert, mentions that this kind of touch can release natural painkillers in the body, making your cat feel cozy and connected.
Renowned animal behavior specialist Temple Grandin's studies also show that light pressure can calm both animals and humans, sometimes even reducing the need for more medication during medical treatments.
If you try squishing your cat gently, especially around their head and cheeks, you might hear them purr if they enjoy it. But remember, not all cats like to be squished. If they seem unhappy or try to get away, it's best to back off. Want to try and see if your cat likes a little squish?
